About the Race

Road to the First African Major

The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon stands on the brink of history, on a bold journey to become the first World Major Marathon on African soil.

For decades, the world's most iconic races have defined global athletic prestige. Now Africa steps forward to lead, not merely to participate.

As the marathon advances toward World Major status, this moment becomes bigger than a single city or race. A continental milestone. A statement of African excellence, unity, and global relevance.

Our Kenyan Presence

From the home of champions, Kenya steps onto this stage with purpose. SanlamAllianz Kenya will proudly field our home athletes, bringing the spirit, discipline, and legacy that has made Kenya a global powerhouse in long-distance running.

And you get to be a part of it. This is more than participation; it is representation. It's pride. It's Kenya showing up where history is being written.
